Kayleigh is a widow living alone in a one bedroom flat that is part of a complex.

Kayleigh has health issues that make it difficult for her to care for herself. Even though her accommodation is part of a complex, Kayleigh’s health conditions meant that she was not able to join in with the other residents in activities.

With limited income Kayleigh was becoming quite socially isolated and the location of her property meant she could not access public transport due to reduced mobility.

Citizens Advice Torfaen helped Kayleigh submit a claim for Attendance Allowance and she has confirmed with us that she was awarded the high rate of £101.75 per week, £5291 per year. In addition to this, we identified that she would now be entitled to the severe disability premium added to her Pension Credit that would increase her income by a further £3,972.80. This means Kayleigh can now pay for the help and transport she needs to be able to visit her family and socialise with friends.
